Tips For Making A Great Ad
Central California Parent
BLACK & WHITE, FULL COLOR SPECIFICATIONS
Please make sure that your ad matches the dimensions of the ad size you are purchasing. Ads sent sized-to-fit the ad space desired will not incur extra charges. Exact dimensions are available here.
The recommended file format for your ad is PDF. We can also accept files in JPG or TIFF files. Please follow the resolution guidelines below. Unfortunately, we cannot accept any files created in Microsoft Publisher or Microsoft Word.
RESOLUTION OF SCANNED ART/DIGITAL FILES
Scanned art that includes greyscale (photos, or shades of grey in art) should always be submitted at 300 dpi (dots per inch) resolution.
Choose your resolution BEFORE you scan. It cannot be changed after the scan to improve quality.
Line art (strictly black and white with no shades of grey) should be submitted at 400-600 dpi for best reproduction.
We do not paste-up ads provided on paper; your ad must be a digital file or camera-ready copy for use in our magazine. If you wish to submit your ad/art on paper from a laser or inkjet printer, it will need to be “re-scanned” (scanned again) by our graphics dept. This may be okay if your ad/art is only line art. However, when your greyscale ad/art is submitted from a laser printout, it has been converted already to either dots (on a laser printer) or lines (on an inkjet printer). Re-scanning this already printed piece reduces the detail in your art, and final print results cannot be guaranteed.
ONE COLOR AD SPECIFICATIONS
Please follow the guidelines below to ensure a quality one color (black plus one color) ad.
One-color ads need to be provided in either PDF, TIFF or JPG format to avoid any additional costs to our customers. In order to create a one color ad, you must be able to work in CMYK. It is not possible to properly format one color ads in word processing programs like Microsoft Word. All images that are to print as black and white must either be in GRAYSCALE or onr the Black Channel of CMYK. RGB images will incur a processing fee.
(Any value of any color is allowable, printed in four color process)
